Galfer Pro brake pads for Hope M4

The Galfer Pro brake pad FD453G1554T fits the Hope M4 (all models). The green Pro compound G1554T is Galfer's racing compound: maximum braking power, highly resistant to heat, and ready to use without bedding-in according to Galfer.

According to Galfer, the pad shape FD453 fits these brakes:

Before purchasing, check your brake caliper model and year, or compare your old pad with the image and dimensions on this page. For the Trickstuff Direttissima from 2022 onwards and the C42, the shape FD459 fits (Galfer Pro for SRAM Guide and G2). For the Direttissima and Piccola HD up to model year 2021, the C41 and Cleg 4, as well as for the Hope Mono M4, the shape FD247 fits (Galfer Performance for Trickstuff Direttissima up to 2021, C41 and Hope Mono M4).

Galfer Pro G1554T: the racing compound

Galfer gives the Pro compound the top rating for braking power and fading resistance, and a good rating for wet and muddy conditions. Galfer rates the durability lower than that of their other compounds: Pro wears out faster and is intended for racing, bike parks, and long, steep descents.

Which Galfer compound is right?

• Performance (black): the long-lasting all-rounder for trail and enduro
• Advanced (red): plenty of reserves in wet and muddy conditions, very long durability

Disc due as well?

New pads only brake properly on a disc in good condition. Measure the disc when you change the pads: if it is below the minimum thickness, warped or deeply scored, it's best to replace it together with the pads. Matching Galfer discs:

• Shark: 6-bolt · Center Lock, one-piece, for enduro, downhill and e-MTB
• Shark EVO: 6-bolt · Center Lock, two-piece with aluminium carrier for even better cooling
• Wave Fixed 2.0 mm: 6-bolt · Center Lock, for e-MTBs, enduro and heavier riders
• Wave Fixed 1.8 mm: 6-bolt · Center Lock, the classic Wave in 1.8 mm, 160 to 203 mm

Compare all discs: Galfer brake discs. With 2.0 mm discs, check that your caliper has room for them.

Installation and replacement

• Always replace all pads in a brake caliper at the same time.
• Push the pistons back straight before inserting, ideally using a plastic lever – never use a screwdriver directly on the piston.
• Keep the disc and pads free of grease; Galfer Brake Cleaner is suitable for cleaning.
• Adhere to the wear limit specified by your brake manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

Does the pad fit the Trickstuff Direttissima?

No, Galfer does not list the Direttissima under this shape: FD247 fits up to model year 2021, and FD459 from model year 2022.

Does the pad fit the Hope Mono M4?

No. Galfer lists the shape FD247 for the Hope Mono M4, and this shape, FD453, for the Hope M4.

Does the pad fit Hope E4 or V4?

No, the E4 requires the shape FD465, and the V4 requires the shape FD466.

Do I need to bed in the Galfer Pro?

According to Galfer, the Pro compound is ready to use without a bedding-in period. Nevertheless, perform a few stops on a flat, safe section before your first descent so that you are familiar with the braking feel.

How long does a Galfer Pro pad last?

This depends on the terrain, weather, and riding style. Pro wears out faster than other Galfer compounds. If service life is more important to you, choose Galfer Advanced or Galfer Performance in the same shape.
