Wolf Tooth Components: Bike parts from Minnesota
Wolf Tooth Components is a component manufacturer based in Burnsville, Minnesota (USA), founded in 2013 by engineers Mike Pfeiffer, Brendan Moore, and Dan Dittmer. The company is known for precision-machined chainrings, tools, and clever detail solutions.
Their first product was a narrow-wide chainring for 1x drivetrains. To this day, Wolf Tooth designs, tests, and manufactures the majority of its parts at its own facility in Minnesota – including the Locked-In Bar Ends, which are "Made in USA."
Wolf Tooth Locked-In Bar Ends: more control at the handlebars
Wolf Tooth developed the Locked-In Bar Ends in collaboration with Downhill World Cup rider Joe Breeden. They sit inside the end of the handlebar in place of the bar plugs and create an ergonomic rubber surface on the outside of your hand—made for enduro, downhill, and e-MTB.
Less arm pump
You rest the edge of your hand against the bar ends instead of constantly gripping the handle tightly. A looser grip relieves tension on your forearms and hands during long, rough descents.
Protection for your hands
The forward-protruding shape protects the little finger in particular from contact with trees. The beveled front edge deflects off obstacles instead of snagging.
No twisting
An aluminium clamp with an anti-rotation profile keeps the bar ends securely in the handlebar. Core made of CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminium, surface made of 80A rubber, approx. 93 g per pair.

Wolf Tooth Bar Ends: will they fit your handlebars?
The Locked-In Bar Ends are clamped inside the end of the handlebar. To ensure they fit, you need:
- An aluminium or carbon handlebar with an internal diameter of at least 18.0 mm at the handlebar end.
- Open-ended grips. Many closed grips can be cleanly opened.
- No angled-end grips (e.g., Ergon GE1 Evo) and no grips with an integrated outer clamp (e.g., Chromag Squarewave).
According to Wolf Tooth, the Deity Speedway and Chromag BZA carbon handlebars (due to an internal step) and the Hope 35R Carbon (inner diameter too small) are also not compatible.
You can find new handlebars and grips at TAG Metals. Unsure if your combination will fit? Send us your handlebar and grip model, and we will check it for you.
Installing the Wolf Tooth Locked-In Bar Ends
1. Expose the handlebar end
Remove the handlebar plug. The grip end must be open; if using closed grips, cleanly open the end face.
2. Insert and align
Slide the bar end into the handlebar end and rotate it so that the rubber surface rests naturally against the edge of your hand.
3. Tighten to 3 Nm
Tighten the clamping screw to 3 Nm using a 4 mm hex key and a torque wrench.
4. Check regularly
The rubber will settle over time. Therefore, check the torque regularly.
Frequently asked questions about Wolf Tooth Bar Ends
What are the benefits of Wolf Tooth Locked-In Bar Ends?
The Wolf Tooth Locked-In Bar Ends provide a rest for the outside of your hand on the handlebars. This allows you to guide the bike with the edge of your hand and maintain a looser grip, which reduces arm pump and fatigue. Additionally, they protect your hands and little fingers during tree contact.
Do Wolf Tooth Bar Ends fit every handlebar?
The Wolf Tooth Locked-In Bar Ends fit most aluminium and carbon handlebars with an internal diameter of at least 18.0 mm. According to Wolf Tooth, they are not compatible with the Deity Speedway Carbon, Chromag BZA Carbon, and Hope 35R Carbon, among others.
Do I need special grips for Wolf Tooth Bar Ends?
For the Wolf Tooth Locked-In Bar Ends, you need open-ended grips; many closed grips can be opened. Grips with angled ends, such as the Ergon GE1 Evo, or those with an integrated outer clamp, such as the Chromag Squarewave, are not suitable.
Are Wolf Tooth Bar Ends suitable for e-MTBs?
Yes. Especially on a heavy e-MTB, the additional leverage point provided by the Wolf Tooth Locked-In Bar Ends helps to control the bike at high speeds and on technical descents. Installation and compatibility are the same as on a standard mountain bike.
Where is Wolf Tooth from?
