Suspension fork spare parts: parts for casting, spring, and damping

Suspension fork spare parts are components you use to maintain, repair, or customise an MTB fork – from seals and bushings to air springs, cartridges, and thru-axles. At MTB-Raceshop, you will find them primarily for Öhlins, as well as for RockShox and FOX.

Every suspension fork consists of three areas: the chassis with crown, stanchions, and casting (the lower legs), the spring (air or coil), and the damping in the cartridge. A spare part always corresponds to one area and usually only to a specific model and generation.

How to find the right suspension fork spare part

  • Model and generation: For Öhlins, casting, air spring, and cartridge parts often only fit within a specific generation (m.1, m.2, m.3). For RockShox, the generation is indicated in the model code; for FOX, the model year and damping type (e.g., GRIP2 or GRIP X2) are the determining factors.
  • Stanchion diameter: 32 to 40 mm. This determines the seals, foam rings, and assembly tools required.
  • Wheel size and travel: Some casting units are available for 27.5 or 29 inches, while air springs and rebuild kits are categorised by travel – for Öhlins, from 90 to 200 mm.
  • Axle standard: 15 × 110 mm (Boost) for most single-crown forks, 20 × 110 mm for dual-crown forks like the BoXXer or DH38.
  • Serial number: For RockShox, this provides the model code on the SRAM website; FOX forks carry an ID code that can be decoded on the FOX website.

When in doubt, send usa photo of the fork and the serial number – we will find the right part for you.

Installing suspension fork spare parts: what you can do yourself

Bottomless Tokens, valve cores, adjustment knobs, and thru-axles can be replaced using basic tools and the manufacturer's manual. When replacing wipers and foam rings, you remove the casting – new crush washers must then be used on the foot bolts; FOX recommends this for every assembly.

Cartridges, air spring service, coil conversions, or replacing the casting and stanchions require special tools, the correct oils, and torque settings per manufacturer specifications. You can book suspension service for FOX, RockShox, Marzocchi, PUSH, and Öhlins forks with us – we are happy to install spare and upgrade parts at the same time upon request.

Frequently asked questions about suspension fork spare parts

Which spare parts are available for Öhlins suspension forks?

For RXF34, RXF36, RXF38, and DH38, we stock casting units, stanchions, bushings, air springs, rebuild and service kits, cartridges, adjusters, and decals. The generation (m.1, m.2, m.3) is important. More about the forks on the Öhlins brand page.

What are crush washers and when must I replace them?

Crush washers are compression and sealing washers located on the foot bolts at the bottom of the casting. They seal the lubricating oil and must be replaced every time the fork is disassembled. Our crush washersare available in POM for the spring and damping side as well as in aluminium for FOX TALAS.

Can I change the travel of my suspension fork?

Often yes, within the clearance limits set by the fork and frame manufacturer. For Öhlins, there are air spring kits for each travel length, and the coil shaft can be adjusted in 10 mm increments. For FOX air forks (except 32 Step-Cast), the ND Tuned Air Shaft Extenderprovides 10 mm more travel.

Which thru-axle fits my suspension fork?

The deciding factors are the diameter and installation width, such as 15 × 110 mm for Boost single-crown forks or 20 × 110 mm for dual-crown forks. Additionally, the length and thread of the axle must be correct. Specifications are provided on every product page.

When does my suspension fork need service?

RockShox recommends lower leg service every 50 riding hours, FOX recommends service every 125 hours or once a year, and Öhlins recommends air spring service after 100 hours and a complete service after 200 hours. For the lower legs, there is the Lower Leg Service.
