Frequently asked questions about FOX

How quickly will a new FOX fork or shock reach me?

We source FOX from the Swiss importer Fuchs-Movesa. Anything in stock there usually reaches you within 2–3 working days. You can see current availability on every product page.

Factory or Performance Elite – what’s the difference?

Both have the same damper and the same adjustments. Factory models also carry the gold Kashima coating, which FOX says is harder and more abrasion-resistant than the black anodising of the Performance Elite. Performance Elite is the choice if you can do without the gold.

Which FOX fork fits my bike?

What matters is the travel your frame is approved for, wheel size, offset and axle-to-crown height, the steerer and the axle – the Podium, for example, needs a 20×110 mm hub. Send us your bike model on WhatsApp and we’ll check it for you.

Which shock size do I need?

Eye-to-eye length and stroke (e.g. 210 × 55 mm) and the mount – standard eyelet or trunnion – must match your frame exactly. You’ll find the figures in the frame manufacturer’s manual or on your current shock. Don’t forget the right mounting hardware.

How often does my FOX need a service?

FOX recommends a full service every 125 hours of riding or once a year, whichever comes first. That applies to forks, shocks and Transfer dropper posts. You can book fork and shock servicing directly with us: 48 h workshop time from your drop-off date.

Can I have my FOX tuned?

Yes. As a WPS Fitting Centre, we fit WPS Podium kits for GRIP X2, GRIP2 VVC, the FOX Podium and the Float X2 and DHX2, and tune them to your weight and riding style. Tuning kits are fitted in our workshop, so you book a drop-off date for them.

Can you help me set up my new FOX?

Yes, with set-up coaching in Dällikon: in the basic suspension set-up, we set up your fork and shock with you for your weight, riding style and trails. You can book directly in the shop.

FOX: suspension with motocross roots

The FOX story begins in motocross in 1974: Bob Fox distributed suspension components with his brother Geoff, and from 1977 he carried on the suspension business as Fox Racing Shox. In 2024, FOX celebrated its 50th anniversary.

In mountain biking, FOX now covers everything: from the light XC fork through trail and enduro suspension to the dual-crown downhill fork, plus shocks and Transfer dropper posts.

The dampers: GRIP X and GRIP X2

For model year 2025, FOX reorganised its fork dampers: the GRIP family replaced FIT4 and GRIP2.

GRIP X2

Four-way adjustable: high- and low-speed compression plus high- and low-speed rebound. With us, you’ll find it in the 36 SL, 36, E 36, 38, 40 and the Podium.

GRIP X

According to FOX, close to the feel of the GRIP X2 but around 120 g lighter. Adjustable low- and high-speed compression and rebound, plus a firm mode for climbing. With us, in the 36 and the E 36.

GlideCore air spring: less friction under load

The current 36 SL, 36, 38, 40 and Podium forks use the GlideCore air spring. The air piston is decoupled from the stanchion and moves with it when the fork flexes under braking or in hard corners. Nothing binds, and the fork stays supple even under load.

Float X2 and DHX2: redesigned from the ground up

For model year 2026, FOX completely re-engineered its two gravity shocks: monotube instead of twin-tube, pressure-balanced damping against cavitation and a thicker 12.7 mm shaft. According to FOX, this makes the Float X2 the first four-way adjustable monotube MTB shock. The DHX2 uses the same damper with a coil spring.

For the new X2 and DHX2 there is the WPS Podium Tuning Kit, and for the X2 from 2021 the WPS Podium Piston Kit.

FOX Transfer: dropper posts

The Transfer comes as a Factory version with Kashima coating and as a Performance version, in 30.9, 31.6 and 34.9 mm diameters with 120 to 240 mm of drop. You can reduce the travel in 5 mm steps by up to 25 mm – handy if the post won’t otherwise insert far enough into the frame.

FOX service at MTB-Raceshop

FOX recommends a full service for fork, shock and Transfer every 125 hours of riding or once a year, whichever comes first. If you often ride in the wet, the mud or the bike park, plan it earlier.
