Galfer brake pads for Formula: Cura 4 and two-piston models

Formula uses a unique pad shape for the Cura 4 four-piston brake. The two-piston brakes from the Cura and R families, as well as older Mega, The One, and T models, share a second shape. You can find Galfer brake pads for both here:

  • Cura 4 (Galfer FD531): in Performance, Advanced, Proand E-Bike.
  • Cura, R0, R1 from 2008 onwards, RX from 2009 onwards, RR1, Mega, The One, T1 and C1 (Galfer FD451): as Proand E-Bike.

We explain the differences between the compounds in our buying guide for MTB brake pads.

Frequently asked questions about brake pads for Formula

Which Galfer Pro pad fits my Formula?

For the Cura 4, it is the Galfer Pro with the shape FD531; for the Cura, R-series, Mega, The One, T1, and C1, it is the Galfer Pro FD451. Both use the G1554T racing compound, which, according to Galfer, is ready for use without a bedding-in period.

Do Cura 4 pads also fit the Formula Cura?

No. The four-piston Cura 4 has its own pad shape (FD531), while the two-piston Cura shares the FD451 shape with the R-series. Therefore, please check whether your caliper has two or four pistons.

Which Galfer compound is suitable for Formula on an E-MTB?

The purple E-Bike compound is available for both Formula shapes. It is ECE R90 certified and designed for the higher weights and temperatures of an E-MTB.
